Tesco overcharged my online order?!

Hi there,
I made my monthly online order from Tesco for £49, but when I checked my bank balance they'd taken out £69! I called up and they said that they would look into it once I'd gotten my order, and that I was to call back on their 0845 phone number once I'd gotten it!
Can anyone give me any advice? I don't really see why I should have to call them on such an expensive number (no house number - at uni!) to prod them to fix their own mistake...
Thanks,
Jenny

Have you received the order yet? Have they done any weird substitutions of items, or have you inadvertently bought multiples of something?"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Try Saynoto0870 for a generic number, hopefully you have a phoned deal with some free time calls.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Check it when it comes and if there is anything you don't want send it back. Watch out for things like joints of meat. I have had larger joints in place for much smaller ones and paid a lot more than I expected. It doesn't show up as a substitute so check the actual price on the joint.
If you don't want to ring try emailing and they will usually phone you back.0 -

I just spent 20 minutes on the phone to them, they've refunded it but were really rude about it and offered no explanation about it whatsoever

Looks like I'll be shopping elsewhere from now on!Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0 -
Might be worth going through the receipt and figuring out which items came in as more expensive?
I have to say, I've given up with grocery shopping online - they never send the right stuff, or they're out of stock and I have to trek out anyway."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000 -

Perhaps you got the same man that spoke to me when I emailed to complain about a different issue. He was really rude and offhand and I was so annoyed I emailed again and told them I still wasn't happy with the service and even less impressed with his rudeness.
I finished up with someone else phoning me to apologise and £10 off my next order. Conveniently the first man hadn't logged the call so they didn't know who it was.
I have to say I am less than impressed with them lately. Our area was very good but it seems to be going downhill fast.0
