you will be asked what experience you have, how it will relate to the position you're being interviewed for, probably the horrible question where do you see yourself in 5 years time.

have you done research into the company? Try and throw in a few facts about the company that you've found out about during the interview. Ask if there is any training (I'm assuming there will be as it's a trainee job!). Ask about further career development after you've qualified.

Good luck - put on your best suit, look professional, stay calm, make eye contact with the interviewer at all times and go for it!

yes i know loads about the company. it has just been a while since i had a interview and do not know what to expect

I temp so I have interviews constantly! Take the lead from what they ask you, and always try and relate your previous experience to what they're looking for. Stay relaxed, and the best of luck - let me know how you get on!
  • i really want this job and am putting myself under immense pressure. i guess i am afraid they will ask me questions relating to accounting and it is a while since i finished my studies in accounts.

Thought you had a couple of interviews last week or thereabouts.

yes but it has been 6 years since i applied for a job as a trainee accountant as i finished my degree 6 years ago and have been working in temporary admin jobs since leaving uni.

the interview didnt not go too well. i turned into a mumbling idiot and kept repeating myself.

i guess the questions they asked didnt help.

why, what sort of questions did they ask you - I'm sure you did better than you think you did, did they say when they would let you know if you were successful?

Well, you are getting past the first hurdle - your applications are getting through to the interview stage. So that's good.

You are seeking work in an accounts role, so if you are worried about your technical ability try brushing up your knowledge - find your old text books, go to the library for other learning material. Knowledge is power - or at least knowledge will help bring confidence.
