Ex showing on credit files - remove?

I have been trying to sort my credit files and keep them up to date - I went BR about 3 and a half years ago.

My ex applied for a mortgage in both our names in 2006 - I didn't know about it and didn't sign anything (and nothing came of it, I don't even know what the result was!).

As i had gone BR I thought I would just leave it as it wouls just fall off. It is now over 6 years and it's still showing, and now i'm starting to receive post for him (which look like debt letters)!.

Is there anything I can do to get it removed. it says it was with Northern Rock.

Thank you for your help. x

If you no longer have any active financial links then get yourself disassociated from him.

    Via Experian: http://www.uk.experian.com/contactforms/consumer_onlinedisassociation.html

Plus Equifax & CallCredit will be able to do similar.

Making a joint application for something creates a financial association even if that application is declined

  • Yeah Pippa is right.

Order all 3 of your credit files (£2) from Experian, Equifax & sign up to Noddle (its Free) have a look at the 'Financial Associate' section to see if he appears on there. If so, you can dis-associate quite quickly & easily.

Write ''Not at this address'' on his letters & return to sender.
