Issue With Solicitirs

Hello,
Not sure if this is the correct place for this thread. Please feel free to move it if required.
We recently (6 months ago) moved house. The solicitors made several mistakes in the process including not paying the Early Repayment Charge to the bank that was owed.
The bank obviously picked up on this and demanded the funds from myself. This was about two months ago.
I have been in contact with the bank and solicitors since via several letters. Finally the solicitors have admitted their mistakes and paid the bank the funds owed. I now owe the solicitors as they did not take it from the proceeds left after the sale and purchase.
There is no dispute over the amount owed. I think and have expressed as such that I should be due compensation for their mistakes but that is a separate issue and as you can guess one which is not progressing very well!
I do not have the funds to pay the amount owed in one go and have made an offer to pay monthly.
The solicitors have not accepted this and have threatened to pass the file to the litigation team with instructions to commence recovery proceedings.
My questions are: -
What will the recovery proceedings be? The amount is £5400 so over the small claims court limit.
Will the fact that I have made an offer to pay mean anything?
What costs maybe involved in this?
I really do not have £5400 to hand to pay them!
Thanks in advance
Regards,

If the solicitors made an error which resulted in you having a material loss, then you should make an official complaint about them to the relevant authority and claim compensation:

Any advice on the litigation?
What will this involve? And my offer of paying £500 a month, is this a valid offer?
