Putting a plug in here for Farmfoods frozen mixed country veg - very nice, and 3 x 650g bags for £2. I'm useless at using up fresh veg in time, so frozen is definitely better for us, and I wouldn't buy individual bags of ingredients except peas. Perfect as a base for shepherds pie or veggie curry. DH says he doesn't like sweetcorn and carrots (same way he didn't like couscous until last week) but ate it all anyway. Mum left most of hers because she's fussy, and the cats ate peas, sweetcorn, carrots, green beans and broad beans. Either they were fooled by the Bisto Best beef gravy, or it was a political statement that we're not feeding them enough, but there was fisticuffs between two of them over Mum's leftovers and they cleared the plate along with the apple sauce. Mind you, one of them was a feral who ate raw butternut squash rind when we first got him. Zero waste in this house - feeling smug"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Good luck with your debt-busting Tiglath!
Re: lunches at work, I batch cook, pasta, rice, chickpeas & chorizo. I bag (freezer or sandwich bags) them into individual servings and freeze. Half of the rice I make with a sauce the other half is left plain. Then each day i take one and have either with left over meat or fish from the night before or i add a tin of tuna on top. Chickpea & chorizo doesnt need anything else - i make it with lots of veg. As well as saving money this also saves time in the morning!
I too have recently started being more mindful about spending my money. Again, good luck.0 -
Another frustrating call to Mint. The 5th person I spoke to could finally see what the problem was. By asking for my direct debit to come out 12 days earlier than before, it's hiccuped the system and effectively given me a month off, which I didn't want. I wanted my 15th Dec payment to come out on 3rd Dec, but it's not going to happen now till 3rd Jan. I daren't make a manual payment now, because if he's wrong and they try to take another payment on 15th Dec as per the previous arrangement, it would cause me problems. Allegedly they will add interest on 9th Dec and my statement will once again be viewable online on that date. I think I'll just let it run and enjoy the temporary reduction in my overdraft until Jan."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000
