Gas, electric, rent, council tax, cost of running a car, petrol(OK they suspended the tax on petrol)but there is still another due in September and we are already struggling to pay for petrol anyhow. Bus and taxi fares. The new bedroom tax that is coming in. Insurance(house and car)

surely it depends on how you define value - £'s or scarcity or needPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Seems to me that all cheap cuts of meat rise in price when times get tough, as more people are buying them. I am thinking of pork hock, gammon hock, breast of lamb etc. They used to be nearly given away but now command quite a price. Still a bit cheaper than choice cuts though.

mobiles are still cheap, you never see someone who is supposedly on skid street without a phone.0

I'm sorry but most of these things are hardly physical! I meant things that can be bought & stored.. how can you buy and store council tax? Lol.0 -

A tad cheeky. The posters above were only trying to be helpful, and you weren't specific in the OP.7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Well, only in that if you don't pay it you might be homeless so the value is in bricks and mortar. And in the case of electric and gas. I guess oil would be another and we at this end may pay for the service but at the other end it is being bought and sold as a commodity.
But I get the point you are making. I would say food is what affects me the most. I don't really have possesions that are valuable so I am affected more by the services I buy or cannot afford to.
I meant to say the Bedroom Tax BTW not Council Tax in my original post.(I corrected the mistake)"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

In the depression people literally had holes in their shoes and their @***s hanging out of their trousers, food was too expensive for many and millions were left homeless without any form of shelter. If they were lucky they might find a soup kitchen, I mean families with children not just single homelessBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
