son's DLA suspended and appointee

Hello I am after some advice about my son's DLA.
He should have had his payment on Tuesday but it was not paid. I phoned on Thursday and was told it had been suspended as they wanted him to say if he was happy with the way it was paid. He turned 16 in October and we did a renewal in the summer. we have had no letters or phone calls regarding an appointee, so it was just suspended out the blue. They have told me someone will contact me to arrange a meeting for him to discuss the appointee. is it normal for them to just suspended payments even though there was no warning or correspondences from them and will he be able to get the missing payment. I just wanted any advice as I want to re phone them as I am not happy due to the fact we knew nothing at all about this. thank you in advance :D

It is not normal, they usually contact you beforehand.
It is possible the reapplication delayed things - they won't have wanted to make a visit if the DLA may have stopped being paid, and after the renewal was posted there may have been enough of a delay that they never got round to it.

    The benefit has been suspended.
He's still entitled to it, so will get backpay once this is cleared up.
  • thank you i will call them again on Monday and try asking when someone will come talk to him. need to prepare him so he isn't too abusive towards them.

Consider if you want to do this, if the abusiveness is part of his condition.
It is tempting to minimise behaviour, as it can be embarrasing.
    This may however be misleading.
