I am trying to help a friends daughter with regard to her existing loans. She has 6,000 on a mastercard paying 170 per month minimum and a previous consolidation loan for 7,000 costing 175. Due to circs beyond her control she has had to move back with mum and the cost of commute plus loans is leaving her with a little more month than money.
She went to see the bank, to reduce the payment somehow and was told that if should could not maintain this level she should go bankrupt or get an IVA. To her credit neither of these is a route she wants as she belives in paying her debts. She thinks her credit score is 14, based on a conversation with bank person but has no idea if this is official or internal.
So, simple question, where can she get an unsecured loan for 13,000 with sufficient flexibility to overpay and finish early (her job prospects are good and she expects to move up the ladder in the near future) that is not going to lock her in for years and years.
Any help gratefully received

Northern Rock allows overpayments, present rate I think is still 6.4%, worth a try!
