Virgin Money Mortgage repayment increase?

  • I have the ladies name I spoke to and exact time, she was from The Mortgage Customer & Itinery Centre (bit of a mouthful!) I told her I wanted to put in a complaint so would require all the details of why they were increasing my fixed monthly payment in writing, she then said if I wanted a detailed description of why they were putting up my monthly payment (which will take around 5 days) I would need to do this first as I couldn't put in a formal complaint until I had this (couldn't do both).
The Telegraphic Transfer Fee they said verbally was the cause of my payment increase and I quote from them "on looking through your mortgage, the only thing I can see not charged to your account is the TTT on the day your mortgage was transferred from The Northern Rock to your solicitor/ bank" .
The TTT is indeed on my first statement and will then still on my owing balance, it is not mentioned on the KFI document separately in section 8.
Thanks for your advice which I am grateful for and I know it is only a small amount but the cheek of them even charging me interest on top for something which was their fault makes me want to scream!! and I will take it further, thanks again.
  • reddodgydon, I would also be interested in what your explanation was as to your payment increase if they've contacted you.
  • I'm not sure how much your rates are going up but mine is about £3 per month so bearing in mind a TT fee is about £30, if you multiply £3 per month by the remaining 24 years that would be around £850 for a fee which seems excessive to say the least!
  • Hi, thanks to all that have added to my thread, yes the cause of my increase is a TT Fee, I have however raised a complaint as a result of the poor and underhand way they have tried to claim this back, with all the added interest! Complaint stage is pending, I did however receive a letter very quickly to tell me my complaint is being investigated and that my payment increase has been put on hold, I will be happy to pay any fees missed out in the original transaction but won't be paying interest on them, everyone makes mistakes but I'm not here to be proffited from! And for "Opinions for U" I couldn't care which part Mr Branson owns, if he sticks the Virgin name on something then all areas are fair game!
  • I have now lodged an official complaint also, after receiving another phone call telling me what the payment increase was exactly. This is Virgin Money's mistake ( or Northern Rock at the time) not ours. My payments are only increasing by £1.22 a month but why should I pay for their and their appointed solicitors mistake. I was told I owe £35 which is the TT Fee and £13.48 interest because it wasn't paid and was told they are asking for the fee now to "Save Us Money" in the long run as if they £35 is still outstanding at the end of the fixed term we will have to pay £60 instead of £35. Arrghhh. What a cheek!!

I also asked regarding the fact that I was told I couldn't put in an official complaint until I had the second detailed phone call, the second advisor told me this was rubbish and would backdate it for me to the original call a week earlier told her not to bother as I was taking that matter further too as you cannot be told you cannot put in a complaint seemingly.
