Hi everyone,
I live in London and I'm an Alton Towers virgin! Want to go by coach - is that the best way from London by public transport? Anyway, I read that it's about 3 hours drive so looks like we'll need to stay in a hotel. Any London moneysavers who've done it in a day? If not, i've been looking for hotels but can't find any cheap deals so if you have any suggestions of cheap places to stay or good websites to use I'd really, really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi There,
What about staying at one of the hotels @ Alton towers - Splash landings or Alton towers. We stayed there in Dec 2007 and REALLY rated it. Great water park and spa. Food was included in the price of the stay and the choice and amount was fantastic. Woolworths are giving away themepark voucher books at the moment if you spend a certain amount. I just took one off the unmaned counter. You can get an extra night free at the hotels 2 for 1 and there are Alton Towers ticket deals too in the voucher book.
Have fun at the park and good luck in finding a hotel.

Oh I do like AT questions

As for getting from London, either the train or coach could be done, but if you are planning on staying in a hotel then driving and taking your own car may be easier. The village of Alton is small with windy roads and lots of hills. Walking is well out of the question unless you are feeling very brave.
There are lots of B&Bs around the towers and most of the very good quality. I have stayed at one I picked a few years ago and by luck it is lovelly!!! £25 PP per night. Including breakfast. (full English and cereal, toast and juices)
The Laurels
The B&B is very nice, they owners are nice. The rooms are comfy all with ensuit. I usually have a fight with the shower to get a constant stream of nice temp water but hey its all part of going to AT :j
Also the food in their restaurant is brilliant. Not over priced, and very tasty. The chocolate puddly puddings are lovelly if they still do them. (I am off to the towers mid may :j :j :j )
The AT hotels are ment to be very nice but they are very expensive. If you want to go to AT money saving style the Alton towers hotels are not the way to go.
I think if you go to wollies at the moment if you spend over £10 you get some vouchers for the towers. Buy one get on free. Which is worth it. Also if you drive yourself remember that there is a £4 parking charge!
Towerstimes
That link has lots of information on the towers and lot of tips on getting about.
Here is a lonk from the AT website, listing local places to stay.
Where to Stay
I hope this has been some help. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090
