self employed...need advice

I just would like some advice, have been offered a job from a realtive doing admin work. I have looked into the tax ad wont be earning enough to pay tax. However I want to go self employed to do it all above board however he says he wants to pay me cash in hand and doesnt want me going self employed!!! Dont know what to do, can I go behind his back without him knowing or can anyone else give me any suggestions? Thanks

  • You're in the right - so do you really want to work for someone who may be slightly dodgy? If he isn't paying his tax, what else is he not paying? Or not being honest about?
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...

    He's fiddling somehow.

You submit your details to HMRC at year end saying he is paying you £xxx, when they cross check, it wont come up on his return, so now you know.

If you're only working for one 'client' you probably wouldn't qualify as self employed anyway.
