The vet will have a look and give you the correct answer. Book him in and take him in as soon as possible.Male cat, 3 years old, persistent problem with the going to the toilet.Spends long time sitting in the box, we are not sure whether he is peeing or not - when leaving - crying and hissing..What might be the issue? Please get him to the vet, it sounds like he is in a lot of pain! It could be a urine infection but we are not allowed to give medical advice here. I'm sorry but you say this is "persistent" so why haven't you taken him to a vet yet?0

This happened to my cat and he had a bladder blockage - luckily I took him straight to the out of hours vet because he could have died within 3 days if I hadn't! As it was, he's having to be monitored regularly now to check his kidneys are functioning properly as it put a lot of strain on them. Our cat is an outside cat so we didn't see him straining to go.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Persistent problem? And asking on a forum instead of taking the poor cat to the vets?

Get puss to the vets!Daisy was scooting her bum across the carpet & straining while using the litter tray, thankfully it was only a minor ailment of blocked anal glands, but this sounds far more serious & I AGREE with the others here!
