Let's hope they spell out the facts. There have been the odd few fiascos when it has come to explaining the full scenario.
  • Thanks for letting me know about this.

I've set the Humax to record it. Let's hope they get it right this time.
  • Watchdog Daily had a feature today on the misleading lies told by the big 4 supermarkets - pack sizes that are larger but in fact worse value, 'offers' that arent offers (eg Beefburgers £1.48 a pack, or two for £3.50)

These arent mistakes. They deliberately set out to lie and cheat you, and fool you into spending more money than you need to. They are not better than private parking scammers, thats why they employ them to patrol the car park, they are essentially in the same business.

This is why i shop at Aldi. We used to spend £80 at asda, now we spend £80 a fortnight at aldi for the same amount of stuff of equal quality.

So they grilled Kelvin Reynolds of the BPA. a slimy little toad that oozed BS. He refused outright to boot the banned companies out the BPA. He claims they will apply 'appropriate sanctions' ie no sanctions at all. He then rattled on about POPLA as if it was some use.

She did make a good point that as long as the BPA takes money from its members its never going to suspend anyone, a point he carefully dodged.

She was a bit lightweight, what it needed was Martin Cutts or Jeremy Paxman

But then they explained the bit about them not being fines, and that the charge cannot be disproportionate. But she still rattled on about 'appealing', but then made the point they still had to make there case in court if you disagree and they unlikely to do that.

First time ive seen it spelled out that well, but could be even better, The media is slowly getting there head round it.

Looks like I just missed it then. Pity. Any chance it'll appear on iPlayer?

Edit: just caught the VT which probably gave better information than the interview. Still it'd be nice to see the whole thing.
  • Well, just seen the item and the woman at the end seemed to know what she was talking about. The only thing I don't agree with is her saying "contact the company at the earliest to appeal". I would just ignore, but she more or less said what been said on here... unenforceable charge and even when the appeal is rejected they would have to do court, something she said they were highly unlikely so good one Watchdog.

  • yes, we need to start pasting a link to the section in iplayer or youtube in the standard advice we give.
