What kind of stock cubes?
I normally use the beef flavoured oned to help flavour stews
Italian ones to flavour the pasta
Oxo cube in with the shepherds pie
Chicken to help make the base sauce for a chicken supreme meal

with rice or couscous to liven it up a bit, chuck it in stew/soup, add some if you're frying onions or chicken for a recipe (dry stock powder that is, not with water added!) - quite useful really!2007 Bronze Olympic Challenge: Total £1057.34 :jDFW Nerd 269: Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0

I use on in almost everything, I do wonder what I would do without them. Soups, stews, anything mincey fares well with an added Oxo cube in it. I make a chicken in honey and mustard sauce that uses chicken stock thickened with cornflour and honey and mustard
for the sauce and then chicken, onions and carrots for the rest of it. Better than Chicken Tonight any night.

For making stock.
if you can make your own fine and dandy but they have been known to have their usesWe all evolve - get on with it0 -
I even make gravy with a stock cube when i'm stuck for gravy. Boil some water add stock cube (i like to use organic kallo stock cubes). mix some good old fashioned gravy browning with cornflour add a little water then mix into the boiling stock water, making sure you stir vigorously with a whisk to disperse the cornflour mixture or it could go lumpy. Let the gravy simmer until it is the required thickness.Proud to have dealt with my debts. Nerd number 288:j Debt free date Dec 07 :EasterBun
