Candy, socks, home made cufflinks, corkscrew, small/cheap gadgets?
Have you tried Ebay or Dealextreme?

I saw £1 small boxes of chocolates in Superdrug. You might find something he likes that's not too girly. Wilkos were doing lynx shower gel for £1 not long ago -unsure if they still are.0

I saw some torches reduced to £1 in Robert Dyas today, 3 different ones to choose from and one came with batteries. Not sure if it will be in every store.0

Does he have a phone with a touchscreen - those touchscreen gloves are in poundland or Primark for £1.0

I've been having the same problem, he basically has everything he needs so ill spend money on boring things like socks and boxers and then thanks to this forum I've found the gift in a jar recipes and chocolate slabs - he LOVES chocolate and he has been saying all year that he wants to make his own bread (we have a bread maker but he wants to try from scratch) so I'm planning to make him some food. Funny thing is I have a feeling he will be more pleased with this than any other stocking I've ever done!
Good luck
