Fed Up of Being in Debt

I have tried to save, I really have, but even though I try and hunt around for bargains, I always seem to run out of money really quickly. I work as a freelance copywriter from home, so my income varies. I would take on another part-time job if I could find one (I spent one Christmas working at Boots which I loved) but can't find any in these tough times. I also look after my daughter and need to be home by 3pm, which is why I work from home.

I need to change now, I owe 13k and am fed up of it. I want to have savings, to be able to save for my future and not to worry about payments coming in in time to meet my bills.

I smoke, which I know eats up the money, but that is something I am working on stopping. (I am also prone to depression so I need to wait until my mood is up before trying to do that). I don't expect a quick fix, but am here to learn, to join challenges and to finally clear my debt and be happy with my money.

Thanks for listening.

  • Good luck!

Now might be a good time to look for seasonal work in the lead up to Christmas.
  • I must have read your mind! I spent the afternoon doing that and have applied at Boots and Asda. Lots of unemployment in my area, but fingers crossed!
  • Good luck on your journey :T

  • Have a look at Tesco, next, Argos, Iceland etc.. They appear to be looking for seasonal workers. Depression, maybe talking with your GP could help offer a solution eg talking with a professional or offering anti depressants. With smoking, you have to allow yourself some simple pleasures, but if you want to quit and save money, have a look at nhs choices.co.uk in the smoking section I think they have lots of advice and may give free patches to help with cravings.
