Hi
We made an offer which was accepted on a house and assumed that the mortgage would go through fine as we had already recieved a mortgage offer on a previous house which fell through.
The previous mortgage offer was £128,000 and now were asking for £130,000.
As this is only two grand extra I assumed this would be fine, but I was wrong.
They decided that they needed to re-credit score us, they then asked to see 6 months of previous bank statements from both of us, they then asked where our deposit was coming from, and upon finding out it was a gift from our parents they asked for written proof from our parents saying that the money was a gift with no conditions. I'm just waiting to hear back from them!
Does anyone else think that this is totally crazy for an extra 2 grand?! I really don't want to change to a different mortgage provider as its already been two weeks since our offer was accepted.
All views welcome!!

I think there just trying to catch us out, I've got a feeling that they wont lend us the money but I can't believe all this hassle has been caused over an extra two grand!
