Frozen plums exiled from freezer...

Options
Hi Everyone

I've just had to take all of the frozen plums my parents in law gave me from their garden out of the freezer after I've bought too much for the freezer on the monthly shop. Could you please give me some ideas on how I can use them? Was thinking of some kind of crumble and maybe a chutney (is it possible to make a chutney in a slow cooker?) any other ideas as I have 5 bags and don't want to waste them!

Many Thanks

If you've got a cheap cake mix lurking at the back of the cupboard, you can make that up, pour it on top and bake it.... or, make a sponge if you've the ingredients.
  • I made a gorgeous oriental plum sauce with star anise and some oriental chutney with some.
  • Pork/duck/ with plum sauce, pie, crumble, cobbler, streusel cake, plum and ginger chutney.

I made an apple braid with plum filling instead.

This recipe for plum bread was gorgeous when I used my frozen plums in it - I just defrosted them in the microwave a bit then chopped them up with kitchen scissors. Oh and I used chopped walnuts that had been lurking in the cupboard rather than pecans as they are cheaper too.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
