Help - 100% cotton bedding

Options
I always buy 100% bedding, its one of the things I don't scrimp on.

If anyone can help it'll be you Oldstylers :j

Anyway I recently bought a new duvet set, washed and ironed before putting it on the bed as usual. OMG I barely slept it was so itchy my skin felt like it was on fire, I ended up getting a sheet out of the cupboard and putting it between the duvet and my skin.

Any ideas for getting the newness out of it? I know it'll soften over time but it should be useable after a wash surely? I've never had this problem before :(

I understand that a lot of goods that are shipped long distances by sea are treated with anti-fungal agents, to stop them going mouldy if the air is particularly humid, and these can take more than one wash to get rid of. If your bedding is white cotton, it'll take quite a hot wash, and that might speed up the process. The other suggestion is to try a bio wash first, and then a non-bio wash (if you're allergic to biological powder, to wash the bio stuff out).

(I know where you're coming from on this one, because I had the same happen with a new nightdress last Christmas!)
