CCCS - am I doing the right thing?

Hi everyone - a newbie here.
I have for the last 6 months or so been paying £124/month to the CCCS to pay off my approx 32k debt. I have a wife, kids and home and I am concerned that I am doing the right thing.
I have just received a letter from Cahoot stating that they will place me on a blacklist in a few months due to not meeting my monthly payments. I was of the understanding that they agreed with my regular contribution via the CCCS.
Am I wasting my time paying off a large debt at such a slow rate as I am going to be unable to get credit in the future anyway. I am very concerned that I will never be able to move house as I will not get a mortgage in future which is quite distressing with a young, growing family.
If anyone could please advise me or at least make me feel a little better!

Your predicament sounds very similar to my boyfriends! Personally, now that his finances are under control, I feel a huge weight has been lifted. We also own a house and probably won't be able to move until it is paid off but quite honestly, I would rather stay put and perhaps extend in the future than struggle the way we were before going through the CCCS. My boyfriend was tackled by Cahoot too funnily enough saying that payments hadn't been met and it turned out that the CCCS had been paying it to the wrong account or something. Anyway, it got sorted and now everyone is happy receiving the agreed amount. I think that you are being very responsible and dealing with your debt instead of ignoring it. You never know, you may come into money one day and be able pay a lump of it off!
Keep going, we are!0 -
you might want to think about posting up your SOA. If we can find you some savings, then you could possibly up your CCCS payment and the time will shorten, or even put the savings away and clear of lump sums as and when you can
for details of the SOA I suggest you read southern scousers sticky "first time posters" Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Dear sir/madam
With reference to the above account, I am writing to confirm I am not acknowledging this debt.would you please send me a true copy of this credit agreement. I understand that under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (Sections 77−79), I am entitled to receive a copy of my credit agreement on request and this should be supplied within 12 working days. I enclose a payment of £1.00 which represents the fee payable under the Consumer Credit Act.
Non-compliance with my request is a criminal offence under the above Act and will result in a report being submitted to the relevant statutory authorities.
As you are aware, a credit agreement that is not properly documented and signed by the customer is totally unenforceable under the CCA and therefore is a complete defence to any court claim that is issued.
Please note that under Section 189 you are obliged to supply these documents whether you are the original creditor or not. I await your reply
send everybody you oew money to a copy of this letter and a £1 cheque if they cannot produce a signed agreement you can walk away from it !!!!ONLY COPY WHAT I AM DOING IF YOU ARE 100% SURE AND YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE END RESULT MAY BE. ALWAYS CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL BEFORE FOLLOWING MY ADVICE. I AM NOT LEGALLY TRAINED . IF WHAT I AM DOING HELPS YOU IN ANY WAY CLICK THE THANKS BUTTON0 -
Hi Andy, I have been with CCCS for 4 years and have found them very helpful and informative when I have phoned them. Perhaps you could tell them about the letter from Cahoot. They may be able to reassure you about it. It may be a letter they send out to intimidate.
I remember getting a letter from one of my loan suppliers saying they would take half of the balance of the loan as full and final but only within 14 days. Yes lovely, except the whole point of going with CCCS is that I didn't have money!!!!!!!
I obviously don't know all your circumstances but in mine, after my lightbulb moment(LBM) and trying to sort it myself, I couldn't do it alone and needed CCCS's help.
What alternatives do you have?
Every other one seems worst to me. Struggling along alone, IVA's, bankrupcy.
Look around the site, see about reducing costs around the home and throw any available money at the debt.
I hope you feel better soon. Personally, I look back at the hassle I received pre-CCCS from my creditors with horror and now I don't hear anything from them. Pure bliss.
Good luck Andy0
