OK, don't know if I'm doing this right!
Expeniture (monthly)
Mortgage £523
Council tax n/a (not living in mainland)
Childcare £25
Water £12
Gas £24
Electric £28
Car insurance £21
Car tax £8
Fuel £50
Food £100
Other £20
Clothes £10
Broadband £12.50
Home phone £10
Mobile £5 (PAYG)
Total: £848.50 (without paying debts)
Income: £723.00
I split the bills 50/50 with hubby, who is blissfully unaware of my debts.
I don't spend a lot on myself. I'm ebaying like crazy at the mo. I'm also thinking about Amazon - I hope I sell things on there!
Did a car boot on Saturday, made £83, but between hubby and I , that was only £41 (which I paid off a card this morning)
I can't see how I can cut down anymore?
I'm sure you'll all have great advice though

:hello:
I honestly think you should tell your hubby otherwise he could be spending bits that he would otherwise be aware hat you need.
Sorry can't help much more but someone will!

is what you have pout there your "half"
ie is the mortgage 1046
when you say you are not living on the mainland what do you mean- ar you living in the house that you have the mortgage on or not? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hi,
Everything is split 50/50 - we put exactly double the figures into a joint account - our mortgage is £1046 per month
Yes, I live in the house we've got a mortgage on. But I live offshore, so council tax etc is not over here.

Hi welcome to MSE
Could you not tell your husband and draw up one joint plan to improve the family finances and get debt free as one team supporting each other?
If he was aware he might change his financial priorities etc ie he might save more / cut back.
Good luck.0 -
PS - We put the bills money into a joint account, and then we both have our own current accounts for 'spending' - obviously i don't spend on 'me' but hubby can spend whatever he wants (he gets about £200 per month to himself.0

Looking at your other thread.

Would your husband be thinking about taking on more debt / increasing the mortgage if he knew the true financial situation?
If you have 20K of debt he does not know about, maybe he has 40K of debt you don't know about ? Would you be ok with that ?0 -
Thanks. Hubby has no real debts as such - he has one credit card with about £200 on there. He's of the 'can't afford it, don't borrow it' brigade. His cc debt is for flights to the UK to see an ill relative.
We're not looking at getting in more debt, we're looking to change our mortgage company as we are paying 6.5% interest on our mortgage (5 year fixed rate has just finished) and we know there are other mortgage lenders with cheaper interest rates. So we look on that as saving us money in the long run.
DH doesn't know about my debts, but he knows we haven't got pots of cash at the end of each month.0 -
It's pointless dealing with this one unless you are aware of each others' debts. You need to repost the SOA with the actual figures and your joint incomes. Put the kettle on and sit him down.0

We're not looking at getting in more debt,
"Will any other bank take us on when I've got defaults against me?
FYI - mortgage at present is £168k, house is worth £250k - we would be looking at a mortgage of around £190k to do some repairs / decorating."
Is looking to borrow £22,000, not taking on more debt?
I think you need to have a heart to heart with your husband and draw up a financial plan together.
Good luck !0
