Deposit into our account from "Santander Mortgage"

Having just looked at our bank account, have just seen that there is a recent deposit of about £9 from "Santander Mortgage".

We do have a Santander mortgage on a property we rented out in order to be able to move to our current home. The fixed rate on this recently expired, and our monthly payments are now slightly higher as a result - but I'm a little perplexed as to why Santander are suddenly putting money back into our account. We haven't received any communication from them (not that I expect that - this is Santander, after all).

Since the £9 is a bit less than the recent monthly increase to our payments, am I to take it that they made a mistake in their calculations and are simply refunding the difference ... or can anyone suggest any other reason for this unexpected turn of generosity?

The letter is probably on its way.

Give it a day or two.

Some sort of balancing exercise due to some sort of clerical error I would imagine.

As Kings says, the letter will be a tad behind..

    Good luck

  • Do you have a Santander 123 account? If so this might be their cashback on your mortgage.
  • We got a letter saying they were refunding as some customers didn't receive 14 days notice of the increase.

Interesting - although if the lack of 14 days notice is the reason, I think we are probably due a bit more a refund than £9 since we still have yet to receive any notification of an increase ... we shall see!

Now appearing on the online statement as "7DAYINTREFUND", so the guess above seems to be correct.

I am intrigued to see how long it will be before we actually receive notification of the rate increase!!
