Cold call for mis-sold mortages

I've just recieved a call from a company called Total Financial Solutions telling me they can reclaim mis-sold mortgage money for me for up to £15k.

He told me this is new legislation that has just come into force and they can now claim over paid interest and setup fees from the lenders.

As you can imagine I am very sceptical becasue I haven't heard of this before and they wanted £450 up front to send out the paperwork.

Has anyone heard of this and if so is it something I can do on my own like the PPI?

Thanks in advance

No, they would be scamming you.

And in answer to your other question, why would you think that your mortgage has been miss sold.

"IMPORTANT INFORMATION, IMPORTANT INFORMATION, IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please be aware that there is a company called Total Financial Solutions who are phoning people stating they can help customers reclaim PPI Charges. They are asking people to pay a fee up front before they will assist.

I wish to confirm that we are NOT this company and we recommend that you DO NOT pay any money to people or companies that contact you unsolicited."

    Ambulance chasing parasites.

Firstly have you ever had any concerns regarding your mortgage? Do you believe you were mis-sold?

Which lender are you with? Did you apply direct ot through a broker? Was it a self certification mortgage? Purchase or remortgage? Is it interest only or repayment?

  • My Uncle, who was not long ago widowed received a call from a company advicing him about claiming for miss sold mortgage contract.

I help him deal with most of his financial correspondance and felt this was some sort of scam. having looked through the forum i can now see that we are probably right.

although they were actually only asking for £10 intial payment to get the documents released i feel it would only be a matter of time before they were asking for more.

If you have been overcharged on interest the lender has to rectify as soon as they realise the mistake.
There is no new legislation that im aware of though. You have always been entitled to any overpaid money back.

If they can get you £15k, tell them to pay you £1500 upfront and they can keep the rest and you will sign anything they want - you will soon see them vanish.

Tell them to send you a check for the £15k and you'll then discuss fees with them.

The common model for these "mis-sold mortgage" scams claims is that they take little or nothing up front (although some will take upto around £500) but then come back to you later saying they have found some issues but need you to pay £x to refer it to the solicitors.

It is a bog standard advance fee fraud. They entice you with the lump sum payment possibility which appeals to your greed as you think you will get thousands but only need to pay £500 or whatever to get it.
