Any thing that you get that you get lots of and would rather not?! LOL
Home baked goods! We've seen where those little fingers have been and that tends to put you off;). We also have no idea of how clean it is at home and most of us wouldn't take the risk-sorry:embarasse
Also, best teacher teddies, ornaments, mugs. Can you imagine if we kept them all? The staffroom and my cupboards are full of mugs and the rest tend to get put in the charity bag. There just isn't the room in the classroom or at home to keep them.
I always make a big fuss though and say thank you and make sure that the child thinks they have just given me the best gift ever, but I would much rather have a nice handmade card or letter, which I do keep!2013 Alphabet challenge: A[STRIKE]B[/STRIKE][STRIKE]C[/STRIKE]DEFGHIJKLMNO[STRIKE]P[/STRIKE]QR[STRIKE]S[/STRIKE]TUVWXYZ

My daughter is in reception, I was planning to give her 2 teachers and the classroom assistant either a mini set of cath kidston handcreams or a body shop candle (both of which I have managed to get on deals from the grabbit forum!)0

I have been teaching now for about 14 years. I teach Y1 and Y2. I've had loads of different things over the years and all apreciated but to answer your question
great things - chocs, pens, nice toiletries, best presennt ever tho was when one of my pupils gave me 6 fresh eggs laid by his chickens!!
not so great - wine (i don't drink it), mugs, teddies, HM baubles etc (sorry, they are lovely but i have 2 small children myself and tend to keep their HM xmasy things instead), books about teaching (jack sheffield, gervase phinn etc), candles
Hope that helps0 -
My husband is a teacher and I just asked him what he would like to receive this year. He said, "NO MORE MUGS. Maltesers are always good."0

I work with primary age kids and to be honest I actually get quite embarrassed by the amount of gifts I get each year. I would actually prefer the money to be given to charity. I don't want to sound ungrateful, I really appreciate the gifts, I just want everyone to know that teacher gifts are really not neccessary or expected.
Anyway gifts I love - unusual Christmas tree decs (the little wooden or tin ones) little mini bottles of wine, memo notes, pens, shower gel (but not bubble bath), flowers, charity gifts where the money goes to buy books or meals & I get a little card telling me.
Things I don't like getting chocolates or sweets, honestly, I can get 20 - 30 boxes! Candles, ornaments.
The best present you can give (absolute honesty here) a homemade card with a thoughtful thank you.
Hope this gives you all some food for thought

Couldn't agree more! I can't tell you the brands of bubble bath or chocolates I got from my form last Christmas (though of course I appreciated them) but I still have cards with heartfelt personal messages in them. I even look at them and re-read them when I need a boost (or to be reminded why I do the job!).0 -

Yet most of my colleagues would prefer to get a bottle of wine over anything else!
(apart from the personal messages mentioned in a previous post of course) Best present any of us got last year was a gift bag containing TWO bottles of wine, one white and one red. My colleague was chuffed with that! Shows it all depends on the teacher... 0 -
I am delighted to get a thoughtful homemade gift and will always keep them all x x x0
