Volunteering idea's?

I am currently studying a Social and Community Development degree. As part of my studies I am required to do at least 100hours of volunteering in one of my modules. All of the places that I am interested in start in Jan. Which is no good as I only have between now and May to complete the 100hours. I have applied at homestart, my local surestart centre, the youth offenders institute.. but they are start in Jan
The type of volunteer work I am looking for is working with vulnerable children/youths as that is the line of work that I am looking into going once I have completed my degree.
I am going to still volunteer at homestart and the YOT as they very important to me. Just need something to do between now and then... Any ideas?
Also I live in the Milton Keynes area.

100 hours less than 2 weeks if you do it full time. Homeless charities often run shelters or kitchens at Christmas where you could accumulate experience quickly.
Have you tried http://www.volunteermk.org.uk/ currently list over 100 opportunities for working in the children or youth sectors.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Out of school care/provisions in deprived areas? Contact your council re youth work and adventure playgrounds, excluded children education provisions & anything else suitable! Any charities that do sports or arts for the above groups?A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0

I'm not sure why starting in Jan is a major problem - you still have 5 months to do it in, which means you'll only be doing about 5 hours a week on average.
You might have to think a bit outside the box - I've seen city farms do some good work with vulnerable kids. Children's hospices (the siblings, in particular, could be classed as vulnerable, and children's hospices often do a lot of work with the siblings of the child with a life-limiting condition) could be another option.0 -

I am a full time student as well as a parent. So full time isn't an option. I can do one full day a week.
Thank you for the website0 -

Sorry if I've missed something but 100 hours is about 12/13 days - there are 20 weeks in January to May so why is it a problem to start in January and do one day a week?0

Have you checked if your university organises volunteering?
In the university where I work, this is done by the Students' Union and they do a great job.
They have a vast list of volunteering opportunities, they will CRB check you (which takes 6 weeks anyway) and they send around regular emails when they have new opportunities or to promote various schemes.
I would certainly be looking to do things in the Christmas break, it would build up your hoursThere are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0 -
