Advice sought: How can we move up the ladder?

  • Thank you all for your posts. We think it is worthwhile me working, we couldn't survive (even though its only roughly £180 I have left over after paying childcare) if I didn't because we wouldnt be enitled to any income support due to my husbands earnings and because we have a mortgage (as opposed to council house rent where we could get subsidised) wouldnt receive any help with repayments. We are considering moving out of York to cheaper areas it would just mean me looking for another job and sourcing alternative childcare arrangements which we would consider. Selby, Market Weighton and Beverly are all considerations. My husband has tried to stop smoking three times this year already - one time he managed three weeks! But he ends up starting again. Thankfully he smokes only 10 - 12 rolled up tabacco cigerettes a day which costs us about £20 a week (as opposed to cigerettes). But still not good and he knows this. Thank you all for your posts.
