Am I mad to leave my job?

Thanks for all your replies. The reason I hate my job is because my manager, who is a nice enough person, but is useless. She is married to the VP and has no management experience at all. I sit taking phone calls form very irate clients all day, she gets me to ring all the difficult ones and it is only when the clients go over her head to complain that I am then told to backtrack completely and give the client what they want…totally thankless task and severely lacking any motivation. She then takes all the credit, of course.
I am a nice caring person and I know it’s just business, but I care too much and get upset when people shout at me and are bullies.
However all your replies have really helped me feel more positive! I have written to the people who I failed to impress enough to get the job (after 3 interviews), I wrote a very polite email asking them if theycould give me any feedback that may help me in the future. The agency were verydismissive of me, I waited until 4pm yesterday before ringing them only to findout that they had known all day and I was ‘on their list of people to call’Grrrr, :mad:agencies. Anywhooo, thanks to morganedge and dandelioclock30, great advice. I will redouble my efforts for looking for a job and try to minimise mystress at work by simply trying not to care so much...I will see it as a meal ticket and that’s it, easier said than done….:( but my health is more important than pleasing a bunch of idiots.0 -
Generally in live it is better to have hold of one branch before you let go of another. This ensures continuity and avoids uncertainty. Work is a state of mind and happy are those who find in enjoyable and fulfilling.
Think about all the positive things with your new job and how you can make it better.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
I agree with the previous poster. Also bear in mind that a vast number of jobs are never advertised.
Get to industry events, get the name of recruiters/heads of departments etc. Find out what's going on in your sector, hand out your business card.
You will hear which places are recruiting and also people will hopefully remember you when they are recruiting and think to contact you. Also you can write to places where you want to work, outline your skills/experience and ask them to keep your cv on file if a position becomes vacant (obviously it's better if you've previously met them somewhere or they have some other reason to have heard of you as well).
Don't forget facebook as well (assuming your boss/workmates arn't on there). Let everyone know you are looking.
Best of Luck

UPDATE!!!!
The company replied to my email - saying that they want to offer me the job and that the recruitment agency would be calling me as soon as possible. I have just spoken to the agency and yes, they have offered me the job! The other person could not accpet as she had to return to Canada. I know it was a very close call between us so I am DELIGHTED!!! Just waiting for my offer letter to come through and then I can finally give my notice in!! Soooo happy, thank you for all your support and good luck to everyone out there too X0 -

Have you had an appraisal yet? Maybe you can bring up your concerns there?
You sadly, can't do a thing about bad manager or fact she is married to the boss.
