Hi,
I'm a full time mummy to my 9 month old son at the moment but I'm looking for a part time evening job now as my son's dad is going to watch him. My problem is that I've suffered anxiety for years and it has stopped me finding a job before as I would panic just being around people.
I worked up the courage and went to college before I was pregnant for beauty therapy which definately helped me come out of my shell but I decided it wasn't for me as it was still too much. Having a baby has also made me more confident but I still find it difficult talking to new people. I have worked in a clothes shop and card shop before but both ended after a few weeks as I was too nervous and having panic attacks.
I'm now looking for a job as a room attendant in a hotel as it's not as people orientated as retail work but I want other options too. Basically what I'm asking is can you suggest jobs that don't require working with a lot of people? I definately work best on my own or with just a few people. I only have my beauty therapy NQ and some standard grades from years ago, not much else in the way of experience. I will still be working on my anxiety issues as I feel I have got better in the last year too but for now this is what I'm looking for.
Thanks

How are you on a one to one basis? Could you consider a mobile beauty service, i.e. going into people's homes?0

How about shelf filling in a supermarket maybe twilight shifts (ie 9pm till 1am or 10pm till 2am) A couple of evenings a week so you don't lose two much sleep. It is pretty solitary work although you will see an occasional person to talk to. Glad you are trying to overcome your shyness though maybe you could join a toddler group and try volunteering there in a small way to help you. Lots of job opportunities can come up this way so you may gain more than confidence in the end.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Thanks for the replies. I thought about doing a beauty service but as I said it wasn't really for me and I'd rather have a job with guaranteed hours tbh.
Shelf filling is something I've been looking for too so hopefully with Christmas coming up I'll find something
Any other suggestions welcome too.

Get looking on the supermarkets websites for vacancies for night shifts, not sure about morrisons but you could always ask in store.0

This time of year there are always hospitality jobs - many of course are customer facing, however, when I did jobs like this I remember a lady who didn't like people and so she did the back kitchen, the chopping, cleaning, diswashing etc.
We all preferred the customer facing so were happy to allow this.
Don't rule out catering etc as work night outs etc start soon and hotels are always looking for short term staff this time of year,.0 -
What about the post office, outdoors, mostly on your own and you stay nice and fit. Or what about courier work delivering parcels, or any delivery work really (if you drive)0

Yodal are a courier in the UK who are always looking for drivers if you drive and have own car
Or what about looking at http://www.braehead.co.uk/ to see list of stores there and see if there are any evening jobs.
I think the centre is open till 9m0
