NI number wrong

Over the weekend I was sorting out some old paperwork (that never ending job) and i was looking at some old payslips and I notice that for a period of about a year in 1999-2000, which covered 2 jobs for me, my National Insurance number was wrong. It is just the prefix part, which should be JC but instead reads JL on these payslips.
What does this mean? Could I get in trouble for not noticing this and how does this affect me financially? Will I have to pay out money and will it affect my state pension? Is there anything I can do about it? Advice from you clever people appreciated!

Its possible that NI may be getting paid on to the wrong account - best bet is to ring NICO and speak to them.
You need to speak to accounts investigation, they deal with accts where NI is being paid to the wrong acct.
Best bet is to ring Longebton switchboard on 0191 2135000 and ask to be put through.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
