Toys R Us ordering problem

I have tried to order a bike from Toys R Us. When I add it to the basket it shows 1 item in basket. But when I go to checkout it says "there are no items in your basket". Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me?
Next I tried ringing the nearest Toys R Us store (12 miles away). They put me through to a lad who who was either eating his breakfast or had a speech impediment ( I couldn't tell which). I asked him if they had the bike in stock and after he had repeated the answer 3 times I gave up, too embarrrassed to ask him again beacause I couldn't make out a word he was saying. So I just said, "Thank you very much for your help" and hung up.
Now I'm wondering if I should just persevere with the website or make the 24 mile round trip to look for myself if they have it in stock. What do you think?
