tax code after discharge

Hi, hoping for some help regarding tax and bankruptcy. I was made bankrupt in July 2011, I haven't heard anything from the OR since, judging by posts on here that is the norm. I can't find myself on the register but that maybe due to me being AD a while ago? Anyway I paid moon beaver until April 2012 and I've had a letter confirming all finished there but I'm still on nil tax code when will this change?
Thanks in advance for any replies

Hi,
The nil code should have stopped from 6th April (new tax year), but HMRC don't always apply the change.
You will need to contact HMRC to get the code changed - have you kept the tax that should have been deducted separate as there has now been 8 months of non deduction?"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't -- you're right" - Henry Ford0 -
Hi, thanks for your prompt reply,
Yes I have been setting aside money each month for tax, as tax thresholds have changed I have just been using the amount I paid moon beaver, I thought the hmrc changed the tax code. Am I in trouble for not letting them know sooner? Until reading on her earlier thought it would coincide wither being discharged?0 -
No you won't be in trouble - it's HMRC that have mucked up (as usual).
Glad to see you've kept the money to one side.
When you speak to HMRC let them know what's happened and have your last payslip available and they will go through the options with you. They may issue a week1/month1 code for the rest of the tax year and sort out the underpayment later, or issue you a correction with a request to pay the underpaid tax. One further piece of advice - don't try phoning during a short break - it can take ages to get through to someone!
BTW congratulations on the discharge. You might also want to contact the OR and ask them to confirm your discharge in writing as you may need this when cleaning up your credit files."Whether you think you can, or you think you can't -- you're right" - Henry Ford0 -
And for my next silly q - how do I contact the OR? I hope I've been discharged I guess I should have looked in to this by now, I wrongly assumed the correct people were doing the correct things (that'll teach me!)
Can I request that I pay back over 12 months instead of a lump sum?
Thanks again, wish I had found this site 18months ago!0 -
Hi,
The OR details will be on the IPA agreement/letter - if you don't have that available, search for yourself on the London Gazette as the full details will be held there.
Not sure what payment period HMRC will agree to, but certainly no harm in asking."Whether you think you can, or you think you can't -- you're right" - Henry Ford0 -
Will dig out my original letter, and try with hmrc, like you say no harm in asking

Many thanks for your replies0 -
Interesting the IPA only lasted a few months and has now ended, I thought they always lasted 36 months? Obv no payments are made if income drops to a certain level, but the IPA still exists for that length of time?"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. Pippa, I am guessing the OP means he has had a letter from Moonbeever to say that the NTcode IPA had finished not a surplus income IPA.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

ah! That explains that then"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0

Hi pippa & tigerfeet
It was the tax element that moon beaver acknowledged was done with.
I spoke to the OR today and they confirmed that there was an AD in July this year
