Have been given a ham for dinner today

Options
what to do with it?!
Normally we boil it in coke then add mustard and treacle and put it in oven for a few hrs but fancy doing something different today. Does anyone have any ideas?

Just curious, but why do you boil it and roast it.

One or the other does for me.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • It's a Nigella recipe (i think) it is
How long do you normally cook a ham for in the oven? 2 hrs ish?

The cooking time will depend on the weight of the ham. This thread has lots of ideas that should help:

What to do with a Gammon Joint

I'll add this to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

McKneff, I do that too. Boiling the ham keeps it lovely and moist then I cut off the skin, add the glaze and finish it off in a hot oven for about 20 mins to crisp up the fat.

From raw, I roast mine for about 25mins a lb plus 25mins.

Ive tried boiling it before and also in the slow cooker, but I find it goes stringy.

I'm a pretty simple gal, I just like it plain roasted. :D

and its good in sandwiches the next day and a sald at teatime lol.

Any left, the daughter down the road gets it.
