A Clock was correct at midnight showing 00:00
From that moment it began to lose four minutes per hour.
The clock stopped two hours ago showing 17:44
What is the correct time now?
(The clock runs for less than 24 hours)
In case anybody wants to try it themselves I have blanked out my answer - If you click and hold your mouse button down on the words "Suggested Answer" below then drag your mouse down the page the answer will be revealed.
Suggested Answer:-
Answer = 21:00 (17:44 is 19x56minutes)
.
The correct answer to last month's prize puzzle question was: Plus, minus, divide, multiply

i came up with a different answer - 20:52 - 17 (hours) x 4(mins lost) = 68, 68 mins added onto 17:44 = 1 hour 8 mins later than clock said = 18:52 + 2 hours (it stopped 2 hours ago so stopped losing time 2 hours ago) = 20:52a few small wins recently with not so serious comping, latest being a free lipstick0

I came up with yet another answer, but I don't know how to hide it......so I agree with lynsey85's answer.....but add another 3 minutes to the time, because the clock losses' 4 minutes an hour, and 1 hour divided by 4 is 4 x 15mins.....so 44 minutes would be another 3 minutes lost.
I hope that makes sense, it did to me in my little world.A big 'THANK YOU' to all who post comps.
It is nice to be important.....but it's more important to be NICE!!! :A0 -
I got the same answer as One-Eye and used a different route to calculate. I wrote down correct times in one column, then wrote incorrect times in next column, (knocking 4 mins off each one until I got to 17:44 which was correct time ??:?? don't want to ruin it for those who like puzzles) then added the required two hours to the correct time)
One Eye's method is way quicker!
00:00 00:00
01:00 00:56
02:00 01:52 etc, etc

I got a different answer
17x4 mins = 68mins
+ 3 mins for the part hour = 71mins lost
then add the 2 hours that it been stopped
So 17.44 + 3 hours 11 mins = 20.550
