Hi
I am hoping that all you lovely people may be able to help me.
My dad is housebound and has a some lovely home cares (home helps) looking after him every day. He has asked me to buy them a Christmas gift each.
Last year l got them a bottle of wine and some chocolates each and don't really want to buy the same again this year.
I don't really know them that well but would like to get them something they would enjoy/use.
I look forward to your ideas.

What do you know about them (ie are they male/female, approximate ages)? How many are there? Do you want to buy them all the same thing? And what's the budget?
Sorry all questions and no answers!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
What about a mini home made hamper. Jam, shortbread, crackers, xmas cake and the like. That way if they don't drink they wont palm the booze off on someone else. It depands what the budget is I suppose but it would be nice to imagine them sitting down after their own xmas lunch with their families thinking 'I hope Mr xxxx is having a nice time' as they scoff their goodies.0

A tin of posh biscuits. Years ago, every year, we'd receive a tin of M&S biscuits from a couple. We'd never have bought posh biscuits ourselves; it was a complete luxury unknown to us before they started giving us them every year. It became one of the things we really looked forward to ... then one year, they changed what they gave us and we never got the biscuits again

I recently left hosp after a few months there. For my favourite staff members I got wooden hearts with thank you on the front which you can hang up and put a message on the back. They went down well with both male and female staff and makes a change from the usual choc and biscuits (which are no doubt appreciated too)? This was what they were like but with thank you instead http://www.rjbstone.com/product.php/2539/173/love_polka_dot_heart_plaque___redBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

Be careful, I would check with bosses, not really sure whether they are actually allowed to accept gifts, silly rule really but I have heard of people being disciplined for it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
When I was working for an agency, I wasn't even allowed to accept a cup of tea from service users! However, I employ support workers, from a different agency, for my son and they can accept gifts. One left here earlier with a box of cakes left over from my stall today.
As the gifts were accepted last year, then presumably they can recieve gifts. As carers mainly receive minimum wage, a luxury box of biscuits, as mentioned above, would be a nice gift which would probably be beyond their budget usually. I would certainly prefer that to wine (don't drink) and chocolates (too fattening).0
