job dilema to get mortgage 200miles away

We are relocating back to our home county to be near elderly parents. Husband and 4yr old moved in June and camping at in-laws while I try to sell house and get a new job. Continuing with my permanant job and travelling 200miles down to see them at the weekends. My 55 yr old husband is doing anything Manpower have to offer him while he tries to get a permanant job but he's been out of proper work for over a year and I'm not hopeful. We don't want to stay with the in-laws for ever and want to get another property with a mortgage when we've sold. Cheapest 2 bed approx £170K. We hope to have approx £100K deposit, so need £70-80K mortgage. I have been offered a six month job down there but I'm reluctant to accept it as I guess we won't be able to get a mortgage. If I stay in my current job of £23K after we sell the house, and lodge with a colleague during the week, would a lender give us a mortgage with me working so far away? My husband's got an apppointment with his bank's mortgage advisor on 21st Nov but I need to decide about the temp job on Monday. I'm 43. Thanks
