I always used chrome but the last few days I can't get on. I get this message -
Unable to access the network
Google Chrome is having trouble accessing the network.
This may be because your firewall or antivirus software wrongly thinks Google Chrome is an intruder on your computer and is blocking it from connecting to the Internet.
Here are some suggestions:
Error 138 (net::ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED): Unable to access the network.
I haven't done anything different or ran any scans. I'm not computer savvy and worry I'll do something to ruin computer.
Help please oh wise ones.

Here are some suggestions:
- Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.

Here are some ideas,
1 .First reboot your PC, and try again.
2. disable your firewall and try a google search, if you get connection close chrome and turn on your firewall, re-open chrome and try again if it fails then its your firewall.
3. Check Control Panel->Internet Options->Connections Tab-> Lan Settings Button. Make sure Automatically detect settings is the only check mark. Close all browsers and try again.
Maybe reset Chome
4. you can reset chrome back to default,
Go to - Options - Personal Stuff - Users - Delete User.Press any other key to continue.0 -
will your antivirus do a manual update? Will any other browser work normally? If both of these are Yes, try uninstalling and re-installing chrome.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
I would clear the settings first as chrome doesn't clear all the settings during a re-install.Press any other key to continue.0

Thanks all for your replies. I've been working all day on this and have got nowhere. just going to settle for IE or firefox. When I got chrome back Norton didn't work and vice versa. I've uninstalled and reinstalled practically everything. At the minute I've no norton but will leave it for a while then try again.
Just wish these computer programmers would think of the 'not so intelligent' people who use computers and not make things so hard.:([FONT="]

Thankyou for raising this question, I have been using google/chrome for ages now but about a week ago when clicking on the chrome thing I am getting something from babylong which is soooooooo slow.
I haven't dared to try and sort it and hate asking no.1 son for help as I know he will do the tut thing and then give me some lecture and make me feel a right eejit!
I think i'll wait for other son to come home from uni and ask him.

Babylon.
AdwCleaner Download: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/AdwCleaner is a program that searches for and deletes Adware, Toolbars, Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUP), and browser Hijackers from your computer. By using AdwCleaner you can easily remove many of these types of programs for a better user experience on your computer and while browsing the web.0 -
Thanks to waddler_8
Just rescued a PC (AMD 64x, 2.1GHz 3GB) before elderly neighbour put it in the bin "because it's full of viruses".
Not come across AdwCleaner before, but was running various programs to see what infections there were, before I reinstall.
It was mostly Facemoods/MyWebsearch etc.
He'd deleted, not uninstalled Firefox, but AdwCleaner cleared a load of Babylon stuff from the left over Firefox folders, also incredibar remnants.
So have a , another quick little program to add to the armoury.
ETA: He'd already replaced it with THIS  just for a bit of browsing!
Move along, nothing to see.0
