Pop your figures in here (or any similar site)

    http://www.listentotaxman.com/

Google will find any number of similar calculators.

My son got a back to work grant of £100. It was awarded automatically when he signed off.

Why can't you find an answer on that calculator? It seems quite simple to use, try again and then get back to us.

If you don't understand something in your new job you're not going to be able to get other people to do it all for you. Why not get used to trying to work things out for yourself now?

On the yellow line use the drop down box to select 4 weekly. Put £970 in the box next to it. Click on the Calculate button below.

The results will appear on the right.

    You'll be earning £998.40, no? i.e. 156 hours, x £6.40 rate.

    You'd take home £873.68 every 4 weeks.

£49.72 will come off for NI, and £124.72 for tax.

    On £970 gross, you'd take home £854.36.

To be fair, listentotaxman doesn't produce a result for 4-weekly net pay. Annual, monthly and weekly only, even when requesting a 4-weekly calculation.

But, erm, it's still quite straightforward - just multiply the weekly figure by 4!

It does, you just need to select it. Go the option that says 'view' next to where it says Wage Summary and there's a tick box, just tick 4 weeks

Ah-ha, so it does! Doesn't show up automatically, though, which you'd think it would, when specifically asking for 4-weekly.
