Unable to obtain credit?

We have a fair credit rating and only one credit card, no other form of debt. We were on an IVA through the CCCS which we settled just under three years ago. The only adverse thing I can see on our credit reports is a loan which we were paying through the IVA and which was settled at a lower amount [which the bank offered, we did not request]. The credit report states that the payment was "up to six months late" and "partially settled". The account is marked as closed.

Could this be what is stopping us getting ANY form of credit?

Driving us nuts as we want to get rid of a credit card and pay a family member we owe so that we have a set amount to pay each month.

Whatever happened to the days of dealing with a human that can actually look at your current [stable and better] financial situation and base a decision on that eh?

You can pay a set amount each month by agreeing a monthly amount with the cc co to pay off the bill each month and the same with the family member. To do this over a shorter period of time look at where your money is going and cut back on what isn't necessary.

It's going to be tough given your previous credit history especially when trying to get a decent APR. IVA, CCCS and late markers are going to stay on your credit file for 6 years hence the struggle to obtain more credit.

    PS
I think you need to change your sig

    bizarre

a CC and a something owing to family are debts.

why would getting another debt help?

you simply need to pay these off just as you would if you could get a loan.

Anyhow, if your IVA shows on your credit files, then you are extremely unlikely to get any further credit.
