ok I have a love/hate relationship with xmas. Think I've finally got it worked out. What I hate is having to have stuff ready/do things by a certain date. I'm used to strolling on in a free n easy manner baking when I feel like it cooking and freezing stuff so theres always something but its all very fluid. Suddenly there has to be
aroastdinner mince pies etc all ready. I love cooking and baking and even growing our own veg and fruit hens for eggs and soon meat chickens too. But I've decided that xmas is my time too. We will be having all shop bought stuff, ready made pud ,mince pies, cake, bags of sprouts and so on. Having stuff from the supermarket will be a treat. A bit of time off for me . might even treat ourselves to a frozen pizza! :rotfl:
Now I'm looking forward to it.

Fair enough if that's what your into but why are you on the Christmas boards lol0 -
I love the Morrisons Christmas advert.
Really sums it all up for me.0 -
Agree - christmas has been over commercialised in the recent past 20+ years, so much so now that I just don't bother. We have a nice meal as a family, get each other token presents, watch some TV or do stuff like reading a good book. We have not sent out cards in the post since we married in 93 as the costs were high then. God knows what they would cost now - family have gone their own ways and now have their own grandchildren etc. We do not put up a tree as we have 2 cats, one which will climb and explore anything new. Life is simple for us. I am also now quite ill, so find doing much very hard now.0

I like decorating bliss balls and slices too. Slices can but cut into Christmas shapes using cookie cutters and decorated with berries and pepitas. Mmmmm.0

I shall be buying everything too as will no doubt be working untill last minute. I have done this for the last few years due to work and it makes things so much easier and stress free. I have to watch that I don't buy things too early though as eat them before christmas.........already eaten the nuts and 2 boxes of liquer chocks and it's not december
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

Me too oldtractor. I have had over 40 years of christmas `just happening`, not any more. I am almost completely ready and all the eats are in and stashed away. I won`t even be peeling a potato

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!
I don't care about commercialisation, I always buy thought out presents or make them myself but I love the family time, love the happy feelings, great time with people you don't see very often etc etc!
I also love the tradition and whilst I am not religious I love the fact we've had such a benchmark in our calendars for hundreds of years
