One 2 One

Is it common place to have a one 2 one with your team leader and lead support or senior (dependent on what you call them where you are)?

Comments

  • Absolutely. It can be a vital part of ensuring everything is ok, from both sides. A chance to look at work done since the last one, planning work for the next period, any training needs, highlighting any issues arising. Also a good way of recording progress in small chunks to provide evidence for annual appraisals etc.

I do them monthly with my team and have one monthly with my boss.

As outlined already it should be a chance for an employee to discuss any issues arising, whether at work or outside, any support they need, and to discuss their own personal development. For a maanger it is a chance to understand their employee in more detail, to establish what progress is being made against objectives, to identify any training or support needed, and to plan moving forwards.

Personally if i was not having one i would always try and discuss the mutual benefit i saw from them with my boss, and try and get them set up
  • Not quite sure I got the question across properly there....

I have a one to one but with me and 2 senior staff members, I thought a one to one was supposed to be just that, you and your team leader so you can feel at ease to disclose stuff etc.
