Wanting to change credit card but dont know how

basically i have had a halfax credit card for 12 months and have about £2000 to pay off

i also have a few outstanding bills and want to pay them off in one fell swoop as its a bit of a nightmare.

so i was thinking of transferring my balance on the credit card over to an interest free card and paying off my bills with that but i dont know how to go obout transferring the card to a new one

any help will be greatly appreciated

When you apply for a new 0% credit card you'll be given the option to transfer the balance of you Halifax card, if you apply online it usually asks you about any cards you already have, your card provider, your credit limit, the balance andn whether you want to transfer the balance.

I beleive its the same for a paper application also.

Hi,

just make sure that any card you are looking to transfer to, has a capped balance transfer fee. Many of them now charge 2-3% of what you are transferring in fees, but some of them cap the fee at £50 or £100. If you are transferring a large amount, check the balance transfer fee not more than that, or try a different card with a capped fee. You can compare cards here with Moneysupermarket
