Hi all,
As you might have noticed in a previous post, i applied for a vacancy with the HMRC; i got offered a temporary contract in the middle of October..
They rung me today to let me know there doing there Pre Employment Checks,
But They said i should of recieved the results of my "Basic" CRB check,
But I rung Liverpool CRB and Disclosure Scotland and none of them have any record of me,
What do i do??
Because until they have my CRB which will be sent to my house, there's nothing i can really do?

When you filled out and submitted the CRB form did you make a note of the reference number on it? If so you should be able to track progress through the following link:

Did you not fill in a crb form, i may be wrong but certain you have to fill in your own form and sign it, I had to at a recent hmrc interview0

Did you produce Birth/Marriage Certificate/s, Passport, proof of address ie., uitility bill in your name?
These should of all been asked for when the CRB was applied for.
Also you should of completed and signed the form, I'm sure there are a few more questions than that to be completed.0 -

No - that wasn't a CRB form.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
crbs can be frustrating as they can sometimes take up to 8 weeks to come through. mine have always been quite swift though usually within 4 weeks. the length of time it takes can vary because of verifying info on your form. a different name from birth can slow the process down considerably. some employers will allow you to work supervised on a quicker 'check' which will take up to ten days until the full crb comes throughbut i dont think this applies to your industry. when i got my job the CRB office phoned my employer to tell them not to employ me until the enhanced disclosure came through this was all because of my birth name being different.
If it was a CRB form you filled in like the others said you would have needed to provide utility bills/council tax bills, 3 years of address history, national insurance number, passport or driving license. copies would have been taken and sent off with the form. Its not usual to do your own CRB form but i have done it once myselfEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.0 -
If you haven't filled out and signed a CRB form then your CRB check hasn't been applied for - the employer may countersign and submit the form, but you still have to sign to verify your details (and provide a lot more details than what you mention providing in your post) and consent to the check being undertaken - they can't do that on your behalf. You need to contact whoever you dealt with at the employer and find out what's going on.
Some employers do now use an online system where they take limited information from a candidate and check their ID then you are sent a link and log in details for an online service to complete the rest of the process - it may be that they use this system but someone has forgotten to do their bit to get the link sent to you. If that's the case then give them a prod to send you the link. Once the online form is filled in (provided you don't have a criminal history) checks are coming back really quickly at the moment (I had a recent enhanced check through this system came back in just over a week).Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0
