Shopping Centres in NE (Durham)

Hoping someone can help, we are doing the Polar Express at Weardale Railway at the end of the month.

We've got quite a drive and I've been trying to find a shopping centre ideally indoor with a play area so the children can let off steam, we can eat and a little shopping.

Really struggling to find anything like this so any help is gratefully received.

Where are you coming from, and do you want the shopping centre at the end or en route?

I found this, but it really depends which direction you're coming from!

  • Thanks for your reply .

That's a very good point re. direction! We are coming from Nottingham, not sure of route as yet.

I think that place ticks most of the boxes, I think it's not "indoor" rather undercover. Being a southern softy I'm a bit worried I'll get cold :o.

  • There is The Gates in Durham itself, although it looks like there isn't a play area for children there.

If you fancy travelling a bit further up the road there is the Metro Centre on the outskirts of Gateshead.
Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.
