so you can't charge it up unless you pay extra for a charger? After you've paid nearly £200 for the ipod? Glad I read this as I'm currently researching the best place to buy a 4th generation one

You can charge it via the USB cable.

I bought 32g from Currys with free headphones

  • You can charge the iPod with the USB cable on your laptop/computer. If you have an iPhone, your mains charger will work to charge your iPod too.

If you use your iPod a lot, then maybe buying a mains charger would be more convenient for you, but see how the cable goes first.

The box that the iPod comes in is very small so not much can fit in it, looks neat though :).

Buying a case before Christmas maybe useful, I have dropped mine a few times, they can be quite fragile but luckily I have a hard case for it. You can get them for around £2 - £10 each.

..and add to that hardcase a screen protector. The screen's are fairly durable but can still be scratched and once scratched are not cheap to repair.

You can get various cases but get a decent model, it's there to protect not just to look pretty. I've seen people drop their ipods/iphones/whatever and the case splits in two when landing on the floor, out pops the tiny machine, jumps up with the force of being dropped and them smashes to the floor, caseless and easily damaged.

Oh, and get yourself decent earphones! (Apple earphones have got to be the leakiest earphones going and yet still you can talk to someone with their music on full blast and they hear ever word you say!) Decent earphones stop the sound leaking and save it just for the listeners and only the listeners. Look for in-ear, soft/silicon covered and a decent brand. I can recommend Sony and Sennheiser.
