Just found out by chance I'd won a comp a few days ago on twitter. I found it by chance by clicking through various pages and saw it on my mentions. I was surprised because I'd been mentioned twice but hadn't received an email telling me about them.

I checked my settings and I would only receive an email if I'm mentioned by someone that I follow, and I wasn't following the person who was running the comp.

I have since changed my settings and hope this post will help others who could win and miss too.

If you go to https://twitter.com/settings/notifications I recommend changing "My Tweets get a reply or I'm mentioned in a Tweet" drop down box to "By anyone" so you don't miss if you're mentioned

Probably an easier way to explain this but my head doesn't seem to be working properly this morning and I'm just typing drivel

Thanks Wiseowl - I didn't know that page existed. I've now turned off several of the annoying emails they keep sending me! And I've also used your tip, which means I can stop checking my 'mentions' every few days. Cheers!

Thanks for the helpful tip, I only had it set to mentions from people I follow. Hope I haven't missed any wins! (...probably not! But I might get a twitter win one day!).

Yes, that's how mine was set so I had no knowledge that I'd won until I checked my mentions

i've changed it too, just will be interesting to see if i get any more emails than before

oh and congratulatiosn on your win BTW although i would say you are very lucky bc most require you to be following and retweeting in order to be eligible to win

I was confused as to why I wasn't following but the win was from a rafflecopter app so there must have been a tweet one but no follow for me to enter

cool, checked mine too only catch up on twitter weekly so nice to find out they email if I'm mentioned.

I use Tweetdeck, it's much easier to see if someone's mentioned you or sent you a direct message (DM) because it's in a column rather than under the tabs, like the new Twitter layout. HTH!
