Good for you Eellogo......unu. What you have done sounds very sensible.
This is something very similar to a poster who used to frequent this place, RenoMan. He was a bit of a "big head", though. Kept repeating what he'd done, and how well his plans were going. And I'm sure he was going senile, he was PPRed once, then repeated his mistake, and was never to be seen again. This place has been a lot more pleasant without him.
I do hope your plans continue in a positive manner.
RenoMan is being treated for severe narcissistic symptons
Definition
An individual with narcissistic personality disorder exhibits extreme self-importance, inability to empathize with others and heightened sensitivity to criticism. Self-involvement and lack of empathy characterize this personality disorder.
People with narcissistic personality disorder are frequently perfectionists and need to be the center of attention, receiving affection and admiration, and controlling the situation. To get the attention he craves, he may try to create crises that return the focus to him. Like patients with antisocial personality disorder, this person places entitlement issues at the fore. He feels that the world owes him, regardless of whether he makes a contribution.
..... it is unlikely that he will ever appear on this forum again .0 -
Where did this money come from ?
http://news.sky.com/story/1009436/treasury-gets-35bn-windfall-from-qe-interestThe Treasury is to receive a £35bn boost as part of a deal with the Bank of England that will effectively reduce public debt.
Chancellor George Osborne and Bank Governor Sir Mervyn King have agreed that the BoE will give the Treasury interest earned through its £375bn economy-boosting programme known as quantitative easing (QE).
Is it just QE type money ..or real money from some place ?0 -

I'm in Delph, it's lovely.

A complement has more value when it comes from someone you admire, thanks Dervprof.

Perhaps people kept asking that poster about it?
chewmylegoff has asked me about my situation twice now, using practically the same sentence. I copied the answer I gave the first time he asked me, in order to save me the effort. I'm not sure why he asked me twice, but I assumed that perhaps he had a poor memory and forgot he asked?
It seems rude not to answer a direct question; I know you feel the same because you've answered people's queries in the past and that's how we know you have offset all of your mortgage, making you practically mortgage free.
I do hope your plans continue in a positive manner.
So do I, though given the number of hostile people who have started to post on this thread, I don't think everyone feels the same as you or I do.
Perhaps this is because we are getting on with our life plans successfully and they aren't? If only they could let go of that anger they have for other people who are doing OK and realise, as we have, that they hold their destiny in their own hands and that if it's a difficult road it just makes the journey's end that much more worthwhile.
Something tells me that this is lesson they won't learn easily and they will continue to carry hatred in their hearts.

Delph certainly seems a nice spot.
Perhaps it is because they too have successful life plans or have indeed already been successful and are happily set up.
You have one view of life it doesn't make it the only view.
As in Delph many circutous routes lead to the same place."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Thanks, it is really nice having all the countryside on your doorstep but to also be within easy commute of a major city. It's the main reason we moved here.
I've never said my view is the only view, so I'm afraid I don't know what you seem to be admonishing me about here and also on the pensions discussion? As I stated on the pension discussion, I like to read other people's plans and ideas and I take on board what applies to me and ignore what doesn't. Financial education is what this whole forum is here for. If no one says what their plans are, how are we to learn? I learned about using a pension to pay off a mortgage on this website (I think from a poster called Purch) and I'm thankful that he posted his plans as I would never have thought of that. I am also thankful for wotsthat's contribution, when he said about putting the pension into drawdown to fund another pension - brilliant! I have also heard from Dervprof that he has an offset account. It works for him but would not work for me - doesn't mean I would slate him for posting about it just because it won't work for me. It works for him and it might work for others and in the end, that's all that matters.
Exactly, we all end up in the graveyard anyway, so why do people spend their lives hating others for their successes. They should be like Derprof, myself, you and some others and be happy for people who seem to be doing OK and try to mirror what they are doing in order to improve our own lot. Certain people would be much happier expending their energies in creating their own life plans and improving their own circumstances rather than wasting their energies trying to rubbish other people plans. I know you agree with this because you'd never do that.0 -

Very rarely did I mention this, and it was quite a long time ago.
In fact, well before you joined this forum. You've been doing your homework, haven't you ?30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0
