Twitter issues

I got an e-mail from this morning saying 'Twitter believes that your account may have been compromised by a website or service not associated with Twitter.' I thought it was a scam at first and didn't want to click on the link from the e-mail but when I tried to connect to my twitter account it wouldn't let me so it turns out the e-mail was genuine.

I only use twitter for comping, has any one else has this happen? Now I have been able to look at my account I can't actually see anything obviously wrong but there were two apps that I'm not sure about 'tweetmeme' and 'shareaholic' which I'm pretty sure I didn't authorise to use my account? Anyone know anything about them?

The only app I have authorised is 'Competwition'. Are 'tweetmeme' and 'shareaholic' anything to do with 'competwition'?

Any advise would be appreciated! Thought I was starting to get the hang of twitter but now I'm not so sure!

I've just had exactly the same message, initially I was trying to Tweet through Rafflecopter. I have just changed changed my password with no problems.

I've changed my password, it's just bugging me that I don't really know the source of the problem with my account.

I had this a while ago - someone probably hacked your account , I wasn't affected but it did end suspicious tweets allegedly from me

weird i had the same problem this morning aswell, it was when i went to enter the daily gin comp thats been posted, i had been on twitter already with no probs so not sure what caused it for me either. i suppose i should be grateful twitter stopped whatever it was before any damage was caused tho :-)

I had this email too this morning, haven't tried to use Twitter since though so not sure what the problem. Hadn't been used for a while before I got the email either.

Also had same message today, it does happen to me fairly often for some reason every 6-8 weeks or so, bit of a pain as I only use 3 passwords and can never remember which one I've changed to when I have to reset my account xx

same here! I wish I knew exactly what application they think may be dodgy??

I had the same email this morning too, and like you I didn't trust it and went via twitter and it did ask me to change my password. How odd.

Same here. Have been using Twitter for about 9 months and its the first time this has happened to me. No suspicious activity I can see on my account either. Odd.
