i would say buy fresh fruit and veg. you can always cook larger portions and freeze leftovers for meals for a busier day or when you cant be bothered to cook.
sorry if this isn't helpful but i always find they overcharge when you buy items specifically for one person.

It really doesn`t matter which supermarket you are in , small quantities cost more !

You will have to cook in quantity and freeze leftovers, my best investment has been my slow cooker, It only uses about the same as a light bulb, keep all re usable packaging, I have a cupboard full of foil dishes, I always make enough for several meals, freeze leftovers and have loads of choices,
Do I need it or just want it.
  • I'm often shopping for one, and carrying my shopping home on foot, so find it a bit annoying that Aldi's fruit and veg are all bagged so that I have to carry home a big heavy bag of onions or carrots when I only want a couple. Having said that, I do get through quite a lot of fruit and veg so it isn't as bad as it might be.

The individual desserts (yogurts and similar) are good, and of course anything already frozen is fine - the Gianni's ice-creams are lovely, especially the caramel one. The frozen fish is pretty good. Their bread is very good and the prices are better than elsewhere for comparable loaves. I freeze all bread by default as soon as I buy it and take it out slice by slice, usually making my lunchtime sandwiches with frozen bread which has defrosted by lunchtime. Their chocolates and biscuits (not exactly staple foods, or at least they shouldn't be!) are generally good and cheap. Tinned sardines and tuna are reasonably priced.

I agree with Supki and Pamdish too - your freezer is your friend when you're cooking for one.

    that's not always true

asda value pasta only comes in a small bag, but it still works out far cheaper to buy this.

quite often other products will have two sizes, sometimes the one twice the size is more than 2ce the price

just make sure you always look at the packets and compare the cost per 100g / kg.

but yeah generally stay away from the meal for ones!
