6 Day out from Bereavment Refund policy, Via Ryan Air

Hello
Last year, 2011, I booked a holiday in febuaray, to Malta, one adult, 2 children, Return.
I was due to fly out, on August the 16th 2011
and return on the 23rd August 2011
The whole flight price including, baggae etc, came to 380.00p
On the 20th July, My sister passed away, unexspectidly.
Her funeral was on the 3rd August.
The holiday was going to be cancled but I did not purchase insurance.
So I emailed ryan air after looking at thier Bereavment policy
Someone close would have to of died between 14 days before the flight.
As my sister died on the 20th july, the two weeks grace brough the date to the 3rd Aug
Well my sister was buried on the 3rd
I emailed Ryan air and explained the situation, they said they were sorry, but becuase she did not pass away with the 14 day period, before the flight, I did Not qaulify, for a Bereavment refund.
So I emailed ryan air back and telephoned them also, And asked would they please re-consider their decision , and I also Asked, would they please consider the fact, That my sister's funeral took place on the 3rd of August, in which case, could they consider counting the two weeks from that date.
As I stated i was due to be travleing on the 16th August
They again said No
As a single mother, it was a something I was fortunate enough to be able to do for myself and my children, by taking them to malta, for the summer holidays. And I had been looking forward to it since it was booked, back in feb of 2011.
The shock of my sisters passing was alittle too muc, to be able to then go on holiday.
I was so busy trying to cancle and request for my purchase to be refunded, that I forgot that I had pre-booked the hotel, And that I needed to cancle that reservation.
Before I knew it, Not only did I lose 380.00 for the Flights from Ryan air, But the hotel then charged my debit card 400.00 'No show fee'
( The hotel, said as a good will gesture they would refund half of the 400.00, But Never did, And then avoided every other -email I had sent them after)
Is there anything I can do, to reclaim my money back from 'Ryan air'?

If Ryanair's Bereavement Policy is as you have stated, then it seems fairly clear. Sadly your sister's death happened well outside the 14 days pre flight time limit, so they are not obliged to refund the cost of your flights. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

There is no right to a refund on a non refundable ticket, so the Ryanair policy goes above and beyond their legal obligations, so it is certainly not an unfair term. You may be able to claim back the APD (a form of tax) on your tickets, but they are able to charge an admin fee to process your claim, and this may equate to the amount of the refund.
To be blunt, you should never book a holiday without taking out travel insurance.0 -

There is no "unfair fee".
You paid for airline tickets, you chose not to use them. As miduck has stated Ryanair's policy goes beyond their legal obligations. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
