  • Thankyou. I haven't worked since i was made redundant late last year. Who will issue my P60 / year-end recs?

I paid too much tax on my redundancy settlement as hasn't even earned enough of my personal allowance!

If you are getting taxable jobseekers then the job centre will issue you with a P60. Assuming that you handed in your P45 these details should be included and there may be a tax rebate due as a result of this which the job centre should pay. It is possible that your P45 details will not be included, in which case they will not pay a refund and you will need to contact the tax office about it.
Also in your case you had a payment after the P45 was issued, these details will not be included in the P60 and will not be sent to the tax office untill after the tax year end so you will definately have to contact the tax office about any rebate due on that part.
I think that your best course of action is to wait untill you can collect everything together ie p60 P45 and details not on the P45 then contact the tax office.
I realise that this is not ideal from your point on view but the tax office are not going to get your full details untill a month or two after the tax year ends.
  • Thankyou. Now off contribution based JSA so have raised it with the job centre about the issue of a P60. They didn't seem to know what i was talking about! Eventually somebody said they will supply automatically post contribution JSA. I will not qualify for Income JSA. I raised the issue over the reclaim of tax paid but they said they don't get involved, only to address with HMRC.

So i have final payslip from employer, P45 and once i get my P60 from the job centre, can I pick this up with HMRC? Feel i am going around in circles.

You mention a P45, is that from the jobcentre because you have ended JSA? If so then you won't get a P60 as that's only provided for a job (or receiving JSA) that you are in at the end of the tax year. The figures from the P45 should be sufficient for you to claim your refund from HMRC.

When you sign off JSA, you automatically receive your P45 in the post. When you have this, send it with the P45 from your previous job to HMRC with a letter asking them to review your tax position for the year (keep copies!). They should sort it all for you.
